Never Your Fault: How L'Oréal Paris is Taking Action Against Harassment

Last week for Anti-Street Harassment Week, L'Oréal Paris launched their “Never Your Fault” campaign, part of their long-standing Stand Up Against Street Harassment program. The social media posts caught our attention, but it’s the brand’s deeper commitment that really gained our respect.

For over 50 years, L'Oréal Paris has been empowering women to embrace their confidence, extending beyond makeup and skincare. The brand is focused on empowering women to feel safe and supported in every way, and they’re using their platform to do so.

According to the brand’s research, 75% of women have experienced street harassment at least once in their lives, and more often than not, the woman ends up blaming herself after the fact. They’re working to change that. The “Never Your Fault” campaign reminds everyone that harassment is never about what women wear, how they look, or where they go. It’s about the person doing the harassing. Through this campaign, L'Oréal is encouraging women everywhere to stand up, be seen, and embrace their right to feel safe and confident, no matter where they are.

And they’re not just ‘talking the talk’. Through their Stand Up Against Street Harassment program, they’ve partnered with Right To Be to create a training session with a set of strategies anyone can use when witnessing harassment. Over 3.7 million people in 46 countries have already been trained, and L'Oréal’s goal is to reach 4.5 million this year.

L'Oréal’s approach is a powerful example of corporate responsibility. They’re showing us that real change comes from action, not just words. They’re setting a new standard for what it means to be a responsible brand, and we’re here for it.
